NINA GAL MERRENS

Managing Director of Intercultural Communication since 1995,
Trainer & Coach

I am originally from Manchester, England, and have been working as an international management trainer and coach, based in Munich, Germany since 1987. The reason I am passionate about working across cultures has its roots in my own family –they were my very first international team, with different background cultures, beliefs and values. Already as a child I acted as a bridge to bring these two disparate worlds together! The question of, and importance of identity has always been fascinating for me.
I now specialize in my professional career on global management development, international team building, intercultural training, personal leadership and coaching.
Over the years in my career I have developed a strong and diverse network of international trainers whom I call upon for support in larger projects.

My private sector clients range over a variety of products and countries, for example, Microsoft, O2, Siemens, W:L Gore & Associates and Allianz in Germany, Ferring pharmaceuticals in Denmark and Israel, Enel in Italy, ABB in Finland and China and Bombardier in Germany.

Non private sector clients include a project for the World Bank on Trust in International Teams in Washington DC and I was delighted to organise and assist the first Personal Leadership seminar to be held at the Esalen Institute, California – a favourite learning location of mine!

As from January 2012 I have been facilitating management development training for the United Nations and have had the opportunity to work in a fascinating range of locations including Geneva, Bangkok, Bonn, Dakar, Beirut and Vienna! Almost every time I am “on the road” I feel I get the chance to learn a little more….

Another area I gain a lot of satisfaction and meaning from, is working at Passau University, Germany I have been a guest lecturer on culture there since 2001 –

I am bi-lingual and am confident working and training in either English or German (although both my sons say I am more entertaining in my native tongue!)
